#14 Chemo: Round Two

Chemo went smooth today...thanks to Mitch feeling good and our buddy David taking Mitch to the doctor's office and staying with him most of the day while Sam was at work until she could take off to finish off the visit. They took it easy and hung out while Mitch got dripped, they watched dvd's on the laptop, and they ate Schlotzky's and chatted it up with Delia. We are very fortunate to have some easy times and reliable friends admist all this.
Before treatment began, Chu and Chang (oncolongist and dermatologist, respectively) met to confer about that reaction rash from round one of chemo, and they finally decided to go ahead and dose him up. Delia did prescribe some new meds: lots of Prednisone to help with allergic chemo reaction, Emend for anti-nausea, and Rozerem to help him sleep, since the Prednisone will give him the jitters for a few days. He is also wearing his pack (Man-Purse, teehee) for now, and Delia will unhook him tomorrow. He is very comfortable and has a good appetite today, so don't worry. We are balancing between bracing for upcoming side-effects and enjoying how easy things are for now. Big thanks again to David for being there when Sam couldn't, to Tery for helping with Ella on chemo day, and to everyone else for all their thoughts.

Good thoughts and vibes to you all, as always.

I have also instructed my neighbors to send you the same, lest they get beset with hours upon hours of Ace of Base music cranked at high volume.

does anyone else hear a "ding!" when you read such as 'round two'? i see mitch in his corner with his silk robe on that has 'lymphomaniacs' stitched across the back, ella as the water girl, and sam as his cancer manager rubbing his shoulders and telling him to get in there and fight!
and we're all his cheering section. =)
just don't bite anybody's ear off, mitch!
love 'n prayers

As someone who has known you since the play group for three-year-olds you and Rebecca were in, I'm reading your blog and praying and cheering all good news. Now that I'm tuned in, I not only get on here to find out how you're doing but to see the crazy comments (and pics)from your friends. Nan (Rentz)
